This is a flight of a SpaceX Falcon 9 w/ fairing model rocket kit, launched on an Estes D12-5 engine. A D12-3 would have been a better choice that day since there was a bit of wind.
On this flight, the chute didn't pull out of the nose which resulted in a hard landing and cracked fin. This can happen with this rocket if the chute lines pull out first without pulling the chute out. To prevent this going forward, I'm going to attach the chute lines a bit lower on the shock cord as well as wrap the lines around the chute.
