Flight Log - 2014-09-06 - Steve Lindeman's Goonydent

Built from plans by Excelsiorrocketry.com useing 2 Baby Bertha kits, 3 18" BT-5 tubes and 6 BNC-5 cones plus one extra BNC-60 cone to be used on the lower section to protect against ejection gases. Total investment: approx. $45.00 making it a very expensive kit bash but worth it for the looks I get at the field. Always a head turner.

Flight Date: 2014-09-06
Rocket Name: Goonydent
Kit Name: Estes - Trident {Kit} (K-33) [?-?]
Flyer's Name: Steve Lindeman
Motors: C6-3
Wind Speed: 9.00 mph
Launch Site: JMRC-M.I.S./Graves Farm Campground

Due to wind I opted for a C6-3 with the 18mm adapter. Should have gone with the 24mm C11-3 but didn't have any left. Rocket weather cocked badly coming off launch pad and soon became horizontal with parachute deploying just before rocket hit the ground. No time to open. First time its done this on a C6-3 motor. No apparent damage on recovery. I'll chalk it up to too much wind with to small a motor as I've flown this configuration before with no problems.
