Flight Log - 2014-07-05 - Steve Lindeman's Sky Spike

New Way Space Models are the New Kids on the Block so to speak. They have only been around a few years but offer something different than everyone else. All their rockets come with square body tubes and launch lugs.

Flight Date: 2014-07-05
Rocket Name: Sky Spike
Kit Name: New Way Space Models - Sky Spike {Kit} [2011-]
Flyer's Name: Steve Lindeman
Motors: C6-3
Wind Speed: 8.00 mph
Launch Site: JMRC-M.I.S./Graves Farm Campground

Arrived at the field shortly after 1:00 and this was the first flight of the day for me but in my haste to launch I forgot to check the recovery system as I had pre-packed this one at home but didn't put any baby power in the parachute. The launch itself was beautiful as it climbed straight up. At apogee parachute was ejected but didn't open. Rocket came down fast and hard just missing the field and bounced hard on an open space in the grass by one of the service roads. Will need to replace cone shroud.Frown
