2022-05-29Punisher 4 Flight Punisher 4 on the L1256 Super White Lightning. I got a little more altitude on this motor versus the L850 that I flew in Argonia. Rocksim predicted 12,700' apogee and 1277fps. RRC3 Primary altimeter reported 13565' and secondary reported 13580, and 1869fps (Mach ... [More]
2022-05-22Lotus 5 Flight Second day of a two-day launch. Clear skies and about 10mph winds. The J540r had plenty of thrust for the 11-pound pad-weight rocket. This flight was the first time I used an RRC2L, which appeared to do its job as the backup altimeter perfectly. Both primary and secondary charges fi ... [More]
2022-05-07HV Arcas Flight Beautiful spring day at the QCRC field. The L850 was the perfect motor for the 100% ARCAS. Perfectly straight boost even with the slightly breezy conditions. Apogee was ~8220' I ran a 120" Top Flight chute in the ARCAS. The 120" chute brought it down at 12fps. - L850 - QCRC [More]
Wildman Goblin 5 Flight Beautiful weather at the QCRC field. Slightly breezy but sunny and very clear. This flight was on the new-ish L1940x motor which did not disappoint. The 5" Goblin left the pad with authority and coasted to an apogee of 8,630' (averaged between the RRC3 and Stratologger altimeters). ... [More]

2022-02-19Concept 98 Flight This is the Mark II version of the rocket. Cold day, in the teens temperature wise, and 13mps winds. Sunny but cold. Kept the AV Bay warm with a hand warmer until it was time to launch. The rocket coned significantly off the rail and I originally thought it had struck the rail ... [More]
2022-02-12Air Strike 354 (by Gary T) Flight Cold February day (18f), very clear sky. SIM expected 4700' but the rocket outperformed about 9% in the cold air. Rocksim may have over-estimated the impact of the cold, dense air. The cold did cause a lot of issues with the starters though - it took my rocket 3 tries to light ... [More]
2021-12-11Wildman Goblin 5 Flight This is the new Wildman Goblin 5 with 3/16" Carbon Fiber fins to replace the 1/8" CF rocket that was lost to fin flutter.
This was my redemption flight for fluttering the fins on the last Goblin. Flight was nominal in every way. Weather-cocked into the 13mph wind but flew ... [More]
2021-12-04Air Strike 354 (by Gary T) Flight Clear skies in Michigan but a little windy. Recovered rocket about 10' inside the field across Avery Rd. Somehow the main shroud lines got tangled with the harness but did not reef the chute. Sim said 5014, the average between the two altimeters was 5045' and 9g's. - J415W - Michiana [More]
2021-11-13Concept 98 Flight Light winds at The Rocket Pasture and clear November skies. SIM predicted 7424' apogee. Actual apogee average 8878' between the two altimeters. Predicted 850fps velocity, reported 930fps actual. So the rocket overperformed significantly against the SIM. Note that this is ... [More]
